Emily Clay Sets All-Time Girls Pole Vault Record

EAST PEORIA - Emily Clay of Bloomington Cornerstone Academy set the IESA girls pole vault all-time record clearing 10-3 to win the eighth grade girls event before a crowd of nearly 5,000 at the 2007 Class A State Final Track and Field Saturday at the EastSide Centre.

Clay put on a show that brought the crowd to its feet as she cleared 10-3 to surpass the previous all-time mark of 10-0 set by Megan Murphy of Casey-Westfield in 2004. The pole vault win was Clay's third. She won the seventh grade girls at 7-11 as a sixth grader, then took the seventh grade win at 9-4 last year.
