This award is designed to recognize the generosity and selflessness that is commonly on display by so many IESA member school teams. Young athletes choosing to come together, as one, for a greater goal off the playing field is the foundation of the award. Whether those efforts are done within their school or outside in the community, the One Team Award program is intended to highlight and reward model citizenship.
Any IESA member school team that participates within a state series (softball, baseball, cross country, basketball, volleyball, wrestling, scholastic bowl and track and field), state competition (golf, cheer, chess and bowling) or contest (music and speech) is eligible to apply.
Teams interested can perform their service within their school or out in their community.

These are just a few examples of what the IESA will be looking for when choosing the winner.
The deadline to nominate a team (or multiple teams from one school working on the same project) for the award is Friday, April 7, 2017. The application process will require the team to electronically submit the application showcasing the team effort in media form (photos/videos), a recommendation from the principal, athletic director, or community leader, and a team mission statement. The overall winning school will be selected by the IESA Officials Committee and their efforts will be showcased on the IESA website. In addition, they will receive a commemorative plaque and a monetary award. In addition to the overall winner, the IESA will recognize applicants that stand out as Honorable Mention Selections.
